The Touareg offers a sporty look considering its large size, complemented by air suspension to help the car adapt to the road. As the brand’s new flagship, this is the most intelligent and technologically-advanced model to come out of this manufacturer.
Volkswagen is known as the manufacturer for practicality and build quality and was the largest manufacturer in terms of worldwide sales in 2016 and 2017. Trying to compete with the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and Mercedes GLE is no mean feat, but the Touareg steps up to the challenge. It does actually share the ‘MLB Evo’ architecture with the Cayenne and Q7, resulting in plenty of weight saving across the board, with largely aluminium body and suspension.
In the Large SUV market, all sports utility vehicles with abundant space and high comfort levels, the Touareg fits the bill, with abundant boot capacity (the new model offers an astounding 811 litres in total, with the rear seats in place). Choose from petrol or diesel, with a plug-in hybrid offer probably on the horizon (it is available in China already).
For those keen on the offroad experience, opt for the Off-Road Pack, with four off-road modes (Snow, Sand, Gravel and Expert). Tidy lines and a two-screen central touchscreen look sleek and minimal, leaving the interior clean and pretty button-free. Compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and featuring a WiFi hotspot allowing up to eight devices to tether at once, the Touareg offers a driving experience where modern innovations and drive comfort create real enjoyment.
