Winner of What Car? Best Small Car 2020, the Volkswagen Polo has had a modern, sporty facelift to make it suitable to even more types of drivers. This updated 5 door, 5 seat hatchback narrows the gap between the Polo and its renowned sibling - the Volkswagen Golf.
It is bigger, and better too - with onboard tech such as Adaptive Cruise Control to take the stress out of long drives. Longer and wider, with even more legroom and headroom, an increased wheelbase and a 351-litre boot capacity, all add together to create a car that is no longer just a quick and zippy, city-friendly ride. The new Polo has space to fill on your next adventure. More simply, it’s now family-friendly, too.
There is also the innovative, standard Pedestrian Detection and Front Assist with Emergency Braking systems. The Front Assist is there to detect any possible collision, sounding an acoustic and visual alert to warn you of the perceived hazard whilst preparing the car for emergency braking. If you don’t react, the City Emergency Braking system will step in, slowing the car down with the aim of fully avoiding a collision, or massively reducing its impact.
With smartphone connectivity and high-quality audio calls, it’s a great tech option and even company car. A smoother ride than many in its City Car/Small Car class, the Polo is also well-weighted, ensuring surefooted handling on bends, with plenty of grip.
