The Audi RS 7 is a five-door, five-seat Estate offering space, speed, and real driving thrill. Wider and heftier than the A7, the RS 7 offers more space. It now comfortably seats five - and is burlier, at almost two metres across. It’s even endowed with the capability to tow.
Audi is renowned for their German speed and efficiency, and the RS 7 certainly does not disappoint in this regard. Its 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 matches the previous RS 7 Performance model at 592bhp, but the RS 7 has an additional wallop of torque and a mild-hybrid system too.
This innovative extra brings down your fuel consumption by enabling the car to coast for short distances, without you feeling any compromise in the drive. The stop/start can kick in at as high as 13mph. It’s super-speedy, hitting 0-62mph in 3.6 seconds, with an optional top speed of 190mph.
All four wheels route through an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and there’s real heft up back as up to 85% of power can be sent to the rear axle.
Weighing in at two tonnes, it’s a shock to find the RS 7 both nimble and agile to drive. Its traction makes it really surefooted on the road, and the responsive steering brings joy and thrill into the drive, as you feel this two-tonne monster ready to respond to your lightest touch.
