Genesis GV60 - Electrifying Luxury and Performance

Redefining Electric Performance and Comfort

Genesis is back with another high-performance EV; this sleek and athletic coupe crossover utility vehicle reaches out into the sustainable luxury space. The GV60 aims to create a uniquely spacious and comfortable, yet exciting and powerful driving experience, all within the EV market.

Due to Genesis being the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Group, the GV60 is built on the same E-GMP underpinnings as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5. The latter is, arguably, one of the best modern-day cars. The GV60 is Genesis’s first dedicated EV model, and it does not disappoint!

Luxury Performance

The GV60 boasts a 77.4kWh battery pack which sends its power to a rear-mounted electric motor with the premium model, providing a range of 321 miles, 0-62mph of 7.8 seconds, and a top speed of 115mph. With the premium and premium plus models, this is instead a dual-motor setup, which allows it to take advantage of four-wheel drive. In the premium model, this boosts the top speed to 124mph, and the 0-62 in an impressive 5.5 seconds, though the range is reduced a little down to 292 miles. The premium plus model gets an improvement too, reaching 0-62mph in just 4.0 seconds. It also has a top speed of 146mph, and a range of 289 miles. Although the range is just under 30 miles less than the premium model, you still have more than plenty of miles to keep you going.

Its 239kW rapid charging capability allows it to charge from 10-80% in as little as 18 mins. With a base range of 321 miles, you would be charging at 14.3 miles per minute (up to 80%). The GV60 also has 3 exciting driving modes to choose from; comfort, sport and eco. These options enable the driver to get the most out of their driving experience, whether that is being more economic or driving with higher performance.

For anyone feeling the need for speed, the GV60 can have a boost button which immediately increases the performance of the vehicle’s maximum output for 10 seconds, adding an extra element of excitement to the ride.

The drive itself is very smooth courtesy of the massive 21 inch alloy wheels and excellent suspension.

A Real Head Turner

This car stands above the rest in turns of interesting design features.

The GV60 turns heads with its smart futuristic-looking design with 15 interesting colour options to choose from, including 4 matt, 9 metallic and 2 solid. Coupled with the fact that Genesis is relatively new in the UK and you have a car that will attract attention!

One of the most outlandish features of this electric vehicle is the wing mirrors, or lack thereof! You will find 2 cameras on the sides of the vehicle with small monitors where the driver would usually expect to look to view the mirror. Not only is this a cool concept executed well, but we found they also show a clearer view of the road behind than mirrors and the small cameras are more aerodynamic, reducing drag.

Within the cabin you will find a luxury Bang & Olufsen sound system custom-made for the GV60 which provides rich, high-quality sound. Coupled with the double-glazed windows and advanced sound deadening, this creates the perfect listening experience in the cabin. Furthermore, there are plenty of options when it comes to interior materials including high-quality leather seats and Alcantara headlining, so you can really cruise in comfort.

Remove the need for a key with the Face Connect / Fingerprint Authentication systems. These are assigned to unlock/lock the car doors and start the car respectively. Additionally, a driver profile can be set up so that other elements of the car (such as seat position, steering wheel position, favourite radio or favourite application) can be automatically adjusted on entry of the vehicle!

Conclusion

Genesis is proud to present its 'electrification' with this new EV! It represents a new standard for luxury electric vehicles. Although this model has a higher price tag, the abundance of benefits definitely justifies it.
