The First Ever BMW i8 Roadster is Here!
The first ever BMW i8 Roadster will finally hit our roads this year, 6 years after it was originally revealed as a concept car at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show!
BMW i8 Interior and Exterior Features
The i8 Roadster has a futuristic look due to the streamflow design for improved aerodynamics and dihedral doors which move forwards and upwards to allow entry. The soft top convertible roof is electrically operated and lowers in 16 seconds up to a speed of 31mph. 20" alloy wheels come as standard with BMW Laserlights available as an option which illuminate up to 600m ahead while in high beam mode. The entire structure is made according to BMW's LifeDrive Architecture which uses lightweight aluminium and carbon fibre to keep weight down and fuel efficiency up.

On the inside, the driver and passenger will find a new design electrically adjustable sport seat with memory function and an 8.8" colour touchscreen media interface to easily navigate through the i8's features.
BMW i8 Roadster Power and Electric Range
There is a turbocharged three cylinder engine combined with an electric motor to produce 374HP. Top speed is limited to 155mph with a 0-62mph time of 4.6 seconds. The BMW Intelligent Management System controls the use of the electric motor to make sure maximum performance is always achieved while minimising fuel consumption. This works to make an impressively low Co2 emissions figure of 46g/km while you can expect fuel efficiency of 134.5mpg.
At a 7.2kW charging station you will be able to gain an 80% charge in under three hours and can drive the BMW i8 Roadster in pure electric mode for up to 33 miles.

No car is complete anymore without making sure you are as fully connected on the road as you are off it. BMW offer BWW ConnectedDrive. This provides real time traffic information, emergency call, concierge services to help you find destinations or book hotels and BMW Teleservices which can remind you about service and maintenance appointments.
You can also get the BMW Connected App on your smartphone to gain remote services such as finding your vehicle location, locking and unlocking doors and repeatedly visited destinations will automatically be listed for you at the usual time. If you need it, you can also get door to door walking directions from where you are to your car. You can even configure the Connected App to work via Amazon Echo.
